In the study of cerebral meninges with a wide range of histochemical and immunohistochemical methods, it was found that the cells of the epithelial structure express vimentin proteins specific to the connective tissue. Taking into account the fact that the desmosomal protein interacts with the vimentin filaments, the authors note that a new type of cell "desmofibrocytes" may have histodiagnostic value. The importance of immunohistochemical detection of desmoplakin (DP), plakophillin-2 (PP2), desmocollin-2 (Dsc2) and desmoqlein-2 (Dsg2) proteins in the diagnosis of meningiomas has been established.
