At present, diseases of the cardiovascular system in developed countries remain the main cause of death in middleaged
and elderly people. Women have a worse prognosis for cardiovascular disease than men: more women die from
their first myocardial infarction, and also during the first year of life after a heart attack, but for many years women
were excluded from research on cardiovascular diseases. Recent studies have revealed a new nosological form of
complicated pregnancy and the first months of the postpartum period, which affects maternal mortality. However,
information concerning this pathology is contradictory, and the existing sources are mainly characterized by
descriptive content.
