Abstract

The work was carried out with the aim of comparative study of mycological features of the skin in drug addicts and alcoholics. The study included 31 healthy individuals, 43 drug addicts and 48 alcoholics.
According to the results of the research, dangerous fungi of the genus C. krusei, Mucor, Rhizopus, Absidia, Pensillosis, P. notatum were not detected on the skin of healthy people. C.tropicis is statistically significantly higher in alcoholics than in healthy individuals (p=0,0014, p>0,005, xi2 = 10.26). Although other fungal species were more common in alcoholics than in healthy individuals, the differences were not statistically significant. Among drug addicts, fungi of the genus C. tropicalis (p=0,0041, p>0,005, xi2=8,23) and Cryptococcus (p=0,002, p>0,005, xi2=9,53) were statistically significantly more common than in healthy individuals.
Although there was no statistical significance in the frequency of occurrence of other fungal genera in drug addicts and alcoholics, all fungi were more common. Only fungi of the genus C. tropicalis were more common in alcoholics (48%) than in drug addicts (44%). It has been established that harmful and lifethreatening habits, such as drug and alcohol addiction, pose a serious threat to the skin microbiome.
