The effectiveness of complex therapy osteoarthritis of the knee joint
Abstract
Aim. The study on the effectiveness of complex therapy for osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee joint was conducted in real clinical practice.
Materials and methods. The survey involved 75 patients aged from 45 to 70 years (15 men and 60 women) with a diagnosis of knee joint OA (the III roentgenologic Kellgren – Lawrence stage). The average age of the patients was 60,0 ± 2,6, the average age duration of the disease was 8,7 ± 2,8 years.
Rezults. In the groups that received chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, MSM the In the groups that recived chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate the dynamics of pain had slightly more than 30%. In group 2, where were used chondroprotector and NSAIDs (etodin-400), the pain while decreased by more than 50% in comparison with initial data. In the groups 3 that elektroforesis with kalii iodati and Novocain adds to the complex therapy the pain while decreased by more than 70% .
Conclusion. By the end of therapy in group 3 the pain decreased more 70.0% than other groups
