FIREARMS INJURIES OF THE ABDOMINAL REGION IN NEW GENERATION WARFARES

Abstract

Abdominal gunshot wounds are of particular importance due to their complexity and severity. About half of those with abdominal gunshot wounds die before being hospitalized, and 10% of those treated die during initial surgery or within the first day after surgery. Despite the effective use of personal protective equipment due to the use of weapons with great destructive power in new generation wars, there are still quite a few weapon injuries to the abdomen.
Gunshot injuries to the abdominal area are among the types of trauma that most frequently lead to death. The complex topographic-anatomical features of the abdominal cavity make injuries in this area severe and complicated. Injuries to the spleen, liver, and large-diameter blood vessels often result in massive blood loss, making death from hemorrhage a frequent outcome. Death can also occur due to kidney and liver failure. In cases of penetrating injuries to the stomach or intestines, the most dangerous complication is peritonitis. Gunshot injuries to the abdominal area can lead to various pathological processes in the thoracic and pelvic organs, as well as in abdominal organs that have not been directly injured. Depending on the
patient's condition, an accurate assessment of the injury's severity and the provision of appropriate emergency care can save the patient's life.
